Although Folegandros is a small island, there is a network of old cobbled streets and paths, marvellously paved. Farmers use them to go to their farms with their animals.
Hotel Ampelos is a good starting point for many hikes. It is interesting and beautiful to work in Folegandros.
From Hotel Ampelos you can hike to the beaches around Agali or to Katergo and Karavostasis, but especially from Ano Meria there are plenty of trails to the north-western or south-western coasts. You can work to Ano Meria or take a bus few min. from Hotel Ampelos.
A very beautiful hike is from Ano Meria to Agios Georgios with olive trees planted on terraces. You also get a great view on the bay. Agios Georgios beach faces the northwest. Sometimes there is a powerful northerly wind. There are tamarisks on the beach and sand.
Also a very beautiful hike is Ano Meria-Livadaki-Agali. Along the way you can swim on the beaches of Livadaki and Agali. The beautiful sandy beaches on the island.
You can take the bus from the side of Hora where Hotel Ampelos is. After a 15-minutes you get off the bus at the last stop in Ano Meria.
